In Norse lore, Sköll is a warg that relentlessly chases the horses Árvakr and Alsviðr, which pulls the chariot carrying the sun (Sól) across the sky each day, attempting to devour her. Sköll's sister (or sometimes referred to as a brother due to a 15th-century mistranslation), Hati, pursues Máni, the moon.
According to the prophecy of Ragnarök, both Sköll and Hati will ultimately succeed in their quests. In certain contexts, Sköll is used as a deity to indirectly refer to the father, Fenrir, rather than the son.
