Accessibility Policy

We believe everyone deserves equal access to Viking culture, history, and our products — no exceptions.

Section I

Our Commitment

Viking Warrior Shirts is committed to making our website accessible to every visitor. That means people with visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

This is not a compliance exercise. It is how we run our business. If someone cannot use our site, they cannot buy from us. We take that seriously.

We work to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We review and update our site regularly to stay on track.

Section II

Standards We Follow

Our site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines cover four core principles.

  • Perceivable — Information is presented in ways all users can see or hear. Text alternatives exist for non-text content. Color is never the only way to communicate something.
  • Operable — Every function on the site works with a keyboard alone. There are no time traps. Users can navigate and interact without a mouse.
  • Understandable — Pages are written clearly. Navigation is consistent. Errors are explained in plain language. No jargon without explanation.
  • Robust — The site works with current and future assistive technologies, including screen readers and voice navigation tools.
Section III

Accessibility Features

Here is what we have built into the site right now.

  • Alt text on all product images, describing what is shown and why it matters
  • Keyboard navigation works across the full site — menus, buttons, forms, and checkout
  • Screen reader compatibility using proper HTML landmark roles and ARIA labels
  • Color contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA requirements
  • Descriptive link text — no "click here" or "read more" without context
  • Consistent, predictable navigation structure across all pages
  • Form fields with visible labels and clear error messages
  • No flashing content that could trigger photosensitive conditions
  • Readable fonts at appropriate sizes throughout the site
  • Zoom support up to 200% without loss of content or function
Section IV

Known Limitations

We are honest about where we fall short. Some areas are still being improved.

Current Work in Progress Older product images added before our current guidelines may have incomplete alt text. We are updating these. If you encounter a product image without adequate description, contact us, and we will send you the information directly.

Some embedded third-party content — including payment processors and review widgets — may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We do not control that code. We are working with those vendors to improve it.

If you hit a wall anywhere on the site, do not give up. Contact us and we will make it right.

Section V

Third-Party Content

Our store runs on Shopify. Some content — apps, payment systems, embedded tools — comes from third-party developers. We choose vendors who take accessibility seriously. But we cannot guarantee full compliance on their end.

Where third-party tools are required to complete a purchase or access key information, we will provide an accessible alternative if the tool fails. Contact Chrissy directly at the address below and she will help you complete your order.

Section VI

Feedback & Contact

Accessibility problems get fixed faster when we know about them. If you run into a barrier on our site, tell us. We want to hear it.

Be specific if you can — what page, what action, what tool or browser you were using. That helps us reproduce and fix the issue quickly.

Policy Updates

This policy is reviewed every six months. We update it when our practices change or when new accessibility standards are released.

Web accessibility is an ongoing effort — not a box you check once. As our site grows, this policy grows with it.

Questions about a previous version of this policy? Email Chrissy and we will send it to you.
